On day two we moved through a lot of regions considering we started in bed, were up on Mt. Cardigan summit by noon, and were everywhere in between. In the morning we were in the lodge region of bedrooms waking up way too early when Hannah turned on the lights to look for her headband. Then we clambered down into the cooking and dining region of the lodge partly wishing we could go back to the bedroom region and sleep. After breakfast we went outside to begin our day of hiking but before we began we went down to the pond (yet another region). There the instructor tried to get us to wake up but totally failed. Then we started to hike. It lasted almost five whole minutes before we had to stop and sketch! The bottom of the mountain was a mix of coniferous and deciduous trees but soon we climbed into a mostly deciduous region. Closer to the summit of Cardigan was a mostly coniferous region, though the summit was treeless and rocky(region!). In the deciduous region there was an abundance of paper and yellow birch trees some of which had birch tree disease. In the more coniferous area there is a variety of hemlock and pine trees. From the summit we could see out of the lakes region in multiple directions. We could see all the trees in the deciduous parts of Cardigan forest showing off their vibrant fall colors. After taking the pass through to Firescrew (and sketching of course) we headed down the mountain passing through the same regions we saw going up. When we were back at the lodge region we had break and dinner.
